Discord Now Faster On Mobile, Users Can Join Up To 200 Servers

JAKARTA Discord announced that it has improved the performance of its mobile apps for Android and iOS users. This is done by optimizing several features, which makes Discord now work faster.

The first feature to get an update is the server. Previously, Discord users could only join multiple servers due to memory problems, but this provision has been changed. Free Discord users can now join 100 servers.

This provision has also changed for Nitro-launched Discord users, they can join 200 different servers. Although the server quota is increased, the drag n drop capability becomes much smoother because memory storage is limited.

Discord also optimizes performance in chat rooms by moving elements that are rarely used into slow inflation loading so that the initial loading time decreases. That way, screen scrolling in the chat room now looks faster and smoother.

Based on the results of testing on the Samsung Galaxy A03s, phones in the entry class that should be quite heavy for Discord, the frame becomes slowly up to 60 percent. The device also managed to sign more frames significantly.

"Our benchmark shows the use of memory is about 12 percent less in the chat list component. If the frame rate is slow it makes you dizzy, you will appreciate this improvement," Discord said, quoted from its official website.

Discord also overcomes problems that users often feel on Android. When users scroll emojis to find the right reaction, images often don't appear. This provides a bad experience for users.

Therefore, Discord rebuilds emoji voters natively for Android. Although it has to leave React Native, this change is considered commensurate because emoji voters are no longer 'empty' when scrolling. Users can even access emojis from 200 different servers.

"Although this divided architecture between Android (Native) and iOS (React Native) improves maintenance complexity, we believe a better user experience is worth the cost. Going forward, we will reassess this approach," Discord said.
