Lawyer: Hasto Rejects Delegation Of Investigation Files To Prosecutors

Secretary General of the PDI-P (PDIP) Hasto Kristiyanto rejected the steps taken by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) to hand over files from investigators to the public prosecutor (JPU) or phase II of the bribery and obstruction of the investigation today. The objection was conveyed when the process was running.

"Mas Hasto made a statement rejecting the action of this activity because there are rights that we convey regarding the request that experts be examined first," said Hasto's lawyer, Maqdir Ismail, to reporters at the KPK's Merah Putih building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Thursday, March 6.

Even so, Maqdir explained, the request for expert examination was not carried out because it turned out that investigators had not received the application letter they submitted.

"Meanwhile, the investigators and the public prosecutor have agreed that the case file is considered complete," he said.

"And we have raised our objections to this, Mas Hasto," continued Maqdir.

In addition, Maqdir also highlighted the different treatment given by the anti-corruption commission to Hasto when the delegation was carried out. He said the politician was taken to the KPK office through the back door.

"I don't know what's going on. Is there something to hide, or, I think this is something new for me," he said.

"Because so far everyone has finished phase II and will always be invited out together, including with legal advisors. I think this is what needs to be known, yes, of course what we are worried about is that the case file will soon be delegated by the public prosecutor to prevent pretrial decisions from happening," said Maqdir.

Previously reported, the KPK completed the stages of investigating the bribery and obstruction case of the PDIP Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto investigation. Investigators have transferred the files to the prosecutor today, Thursday, March 6.

"The suspect and evidence from investigators have been carried out to the general investigator of the HK suspect case," said KPK spokesman Tessa Mahardhika to reporters in a written statement, Thursday, March 6.
