Naturalization Of 3 National Team Players, DPR Hopes PSSI Trains Their Own Children In The Future

JAKARTA - The DPR RI Plenary Meeting approved the granting of Indonesian citizenship to three naturalized players, namely Joey Pelupessy, Dean James, and Emil Audero who were projected to defend the Indonesian national team in the 2026 World Cup qualifying round.

Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Adies Kadir, said that currently the naturalization program is needed to improve national football achievements. However, Adies hopes that in the future PSSI can train its own children to be able to compete with international players. "These are three football players, so now we DPR is helping PSSI to concentrate because recently our football achievements have not been doing well, there has been a slight decline. So we hope that with the addition of 3 naturalized players, our achievements can increase again, it can go up even more," said Adies Kadir at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Thursday, March 5.

"Because according to the track records of friends at Commission X and Commission XIII, this increase is quite capable and provides extraordinary ammunition for PSSI. We hope that our football in Indonesia can fly again in the international arena," he continued.

Adies understands that there are too many naturalized players. For that, he hopes, this naturalized player can be an example for young Indonesians as well as PSSI can provide training abroad.

"For now, naturalization players are still needed. In the future, PSSI should start also training young national cadres, whether it is trained in Indonesia or sent to train abroad, such as in Italy, in England, it's good there," said the Golkar legislator.

"So in the future, we hope that we have our own children who can be a mainstay for football players. But this is a projection in the future," he added.

"For now, we want young people to imitate this mixed one first, this naturalization is also a blasteran. Actually, they have Indonesian blood pressure that has been abroad for a long time, but thank God they have the heart and call to return to their country of Indonesia and join the PSSI squad. Hopefully in the future this example will be imitated by our young people," said Adies again.
