Maqdir Ismail Asks KPK To Respect Hasto's Pretrial Process

JAKARTA - Hasto Kristiyanto's attorney, Maqdir Ismail, asked the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) to respect the pretrial process proposed by his client. The reason is, Hasto's camp assesses that the KPK is ready to bring the court's Hasto case without attending a pretrial hearing.

Maqdir confirmed that his party had prepared three experts in the first pretrial hearing regarding the status of suspect Hasto Kristiyanto which was held at the South Jakarta District Court, Monday, March 3, yesterday.

However, the KPK did not attend on the grounds that it was still busy preparing the files needed to answer the pretrial petition.

"Yes, that's right (three experts, ed), this is for pretrial. But what I received information this morning, that Mas Hasto's case file will be transferred from investigators to the public prosecutor tomorrow," said Maqdir at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Wednesday, March 5.

"This means that the KPK is ready to take this case to court. Meanwhile, we are currently carrying out a pretrial process. They should respect this," he continued.

According to Maqdir, all activities of investigators and public prosecutors should be stopped until there is a pretrial decision. "Not in this way," he said.

Maqdir stated that his party objected to the KPK's stance which resulted in the postponement of the pretrial hearing until Monday, March 10, next week.

"Yes, of course we will protest, for sure. And we will also convey this issue during the pretrial hearing tomorrow. Next week, 10th," said Maqdir.

It is known that the KPK did not attend the first two trials of Hasto Kristiyanto's pretrial application. The KPK admits that it is still busy preparing the files needed to answer the pretrial application of the KPK suspect.

The trial, which was originally scheduled to be held on Monday, March 3, was finally postponed with the agenda of calling the parties on Monday, March 10, and Friday, March 14.

This is a 'secondjil' pretrial from Hasto because the first pretrial application cannot be accepted by the judge. Now, Hasto's attorney has filed two pretrials on Hasto's suspect status in two cases.

Hasto filed two pretrial lawsuits. First, case number 23/Pid.Pra/2025/PN JKT.SEL who tested whether or not the determination of the suspect Hasto was based on Sprindik Number Sprin.Dik/153/DIK.00/01/12/2024 concerning bribery allegations. The trial will be tried by Tunggal Judge Afrizal Hadi.

Meanwhile, the trial of the lawsuit with case number 24/Pid.Pra/2025/PN JKT.SEL will be handled by the Single Judge Rio Barten Pasaribu to examine whether or not the determination of the suspect Hasto is legal regarding the alleged obstruction of the investigation based on Sprindik Number Sprin.Dik/152/DIK/DIK.01/12/2024.
