MG Plans To Launch Indonesia's Hybrid Car This Year

JAKARTA - MG Motor Indonesia plans to launch a hybrid car that is not a complete import but a local Indonesian assembled car this year (2025).

The plan was confirmed by MG Motor Indonesia Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Hu Guowei. He said MG also wanted to take advantage of three percent of the government's tax incentives.

"We are designing to produce HEV locally in Indonesia, using our factory. We are also still looking to see if we can enjoy three percent incentives from the government," he said, on the sidelines of a joint iftar event in the Senayan area, Jakarta, Tuesday night, March 4.

Unfortunately, he did not divulge what hybrid models would be assembled locally, even to the price of the new model. As a record, MG currently has a Hybrid VS which is priced at IDR 392 million. However, he ensures that prospective new MG cars have a competitive price.

"Three percent is a big money, especially for us. If we can have three percent of course we can lower prices and that will help consumers," he added.

The news shows up on one MG model, ZS HEV, which has indeed launched globally. The model is equipped with a conventional 1.498 cc engine with 100 Hp power and 128 Nm torque. This machine is equipped with a battery with a capacity of 1.83 kWh.

The model above is just an estimate, of course, it is worth waiting for what hybrid model MG will present in Indonesia this year.
