Increase Product Added Value, KKP Godok Policy For Downstreaming Fishery Products
JAKARTA - The Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) initiated cross-sectoral synergies in developing downstream areas of marine and fishery products.
This synergy is carried out for the development of downstream areas of marine and fishery products in order to increase the added value of products, strengthen the economy and support the sustainability of the sector.
The Director General of Strengthening the Competitiveness of Marine and Fishery Products (PDSPKP) KKP Budi Sulistiyo said that currently his staff is working on policies for downstreaming marine and fishery products.
The plan is that this policy will contain locations designated as a center for integrated marine and fisheries entrepreneurship management, starting from pre-production, production, processing and marketing in the framework of downstreaming marine and fishery products.
"The downstream area of marine and fishery products must have superior commodity parameters and location characteristics," Budi said as quoted from the KKP official website, Wednesday, March 5.
The functions of the downstream area of marine and fishery products consist of the management of fish fishing results and/or fish cultivation.
In addition, this area also pays attention to handling and/or processing to the distribution and marketing of marine and fishery products.
Budi explained that the downstream strategy for marine and fishery products includes the implementation of market intelligence, consolidation and synchronization of inter-ministerial / institutional roadmaps as well as strengthening raw material governance.
Especially at the last point, said Budi, the KP Ministerial Regulation (Permen) has been prepared regarding the Implementation of Standard Fish Processing Materials.
"This regulation is currently in the process of being invited, meaning that the raw materials for downstreaming must be of high quality," he said.
Meanwhile, Secretary of the Ministry of Investment/President Secretary of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) Heldy Satrya Putera stated that his readiness to support the downstreaming of the marine and fisheries sector.
According to him, there is tremendous potential in the development of downstreaming of the marine and fisheries sectors such as industrial salt in the soda ash industry and capsule shells from seaweed.
He said that his party had made an investment blueprint plan by creating investment needs plans, including a roadmap for downstreaming marine and fishery commodities based on the National Industrial Development Master Plan (RIPIN) from the Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin).
Related to this, the Ministry of Industry also supports the development plan for the downstream area of marine and fishery products as the thematic industrial area. In fact, the Ministry of Industry is ready to synergize to formulate regulations for the development of the area.

Director General of Agro Industry of the Ministry of Industry Putu Juli Ardika said, if referring to Government Regulation (PP) Number 20 of 2024, industrial areas will get various facilities in the form of tax and customs incentives.
Not only that, there are non-fiscal incentives in the form of easy immigration, land and employment.
"The plan of the KP Permen will regulate the governance of industrial areas specifically for fisheries and synergize with national policies that regulate regional development," he said.
