Wamenaker Noel Regrets Curator Accumulating Sritex Workers' Layoffs

JAKARTA - The Deputy Minister of Manpower (Wamenaker) regretted that the Curator who took the termination of employment (PHK) for nearly 11,000 workers of PT Sritex Tbk, instead of going to concern or business continuity.

"Normatively, it is the right of the Curator. However, Sritex's layoff decision did not pay attention to the social aspect. What are the consequences for the labor ecosystem and the local community?" he said in his statement, quoted on Sunday, March 2.

Immanuel, who is familiarly called Noel, also questioned whether the Curator involved textile and textile economic experts and textile products, and financial experts because of the company's ability to rise, is certainly more relevant as an area for relevant economists.

"If the Curator only uses a power hammer in their hands, does it pay attention to the social aspect? Isn't it really a legal decision to always pay attention to the social aspect," he said.

Noel admitted that the Ministry of Manpower (Kemnaker) and the relevant ministries and Sritex management had actually tried to maintain business continuity for the sake of workers and business continuity.

"I invite related experts to think about how the social aspect is also included in the considerations of the Curator. It needs balance of economic and social technical considerations. Don't let the real company still get up, but it's cut off," he said.

With the latest developments, Noel conveyed that the Ministry of Manpower guarantees workers' rights to obtain severance pay and Job Loss Guarantee (JKP).

"The Ministry of Manpower is at the forefront of defending workers' rights, and the government guarantees workers will get their rights," he said.
