JAKARTA - The Ministry of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection said the government would form a special team for child protection in the online realm to deal with cases of digital exploitation and violence.

"With more assertive policies and better supervision, it is hoped that children can be better protected from cyber threats and can use the internet positively and responsibly," said the Daily Executive of the Deputy for Child Special Protection at the Ministry of PPPA, Indra Gunawan, as reported by ANTARA, Saturday, March 1.

In addition, KemenPPPA will implement digital literacy programs in schools, disseminate information about internet hazards to parents and children, and develop digital security features with online platforms.

Indra Gunawan emphasized the Ministry of PPPA's commitment to protecting children from the threat of the digital world.

His party also emphasized that cross-sectoral cooperation is the main key in facing digital security challenges for children.

"Digital security for children must be a top priority because based on data from the Online Information System for the Protection of Women and Children (PPA Symphony) more than fifteen thousand children have become victims of online sexual violence. In addition, children also face other threats, such as gambling, gaming addiction, and child sexual exploitation," he said.

He asked all parties to ensure that children can use the internet safely and responsibly.

"We invite all elements of society, including providers of digital platforms, civil society organizations, and educational institutions to play an active role in providing education and supervision of children's digital activities," he said.
