Space Launch History, This Is A List Of Animals That Have Flyed To Space
JAKARTA The history of human launches into space goes quite long and not many know that animals were once part of it. Not just one, but some types of animals.
A few decades ago, animals did play a significant role in the early days of space development. Before launching humans, engineers learned how to launch rockets by utilizing a number of animals.
This is done so that they are more than ready when launching the first humans into space. In the past, engineers used dogs, monkeys and chimpanzees. However, in fact, many other types of animals were sacrificed in space learning.
For people who are unfamiliar with the history of space exploration, they do not know that the first animal to reach space is a fruit fly. The animal with the scientific name Drosophila Melanogaster flew on a German rocket seized by the US in 1947.
The next launch was followed by a rhesus monkey named Albert II. Albert was the first mammal to successfully fly into space. This flight was carried out about two years after the launch of the fruit fly.
Before sliding into space, Albert was calm during the flight and scientists put sensors inside to measure vital signs. Unfortunately, this monkey remains dead as the plane carrying it enters the de-orbit process.
Although both are the first, the mission is sub-orbital so it is not so memorable. The most memorable animal is a dog named Laika. He was the first animal to successfully orbit Earth.
Laika was launched by the Soviet Union in 1957. Unfortunately, this dog died while still in orbit. Before Laika successfully orbited, there were already several other dogs that reached space without orbiting, including Tsygan and Dezik.
The first successful mammal flight to land back on Earth was the dogs Strellka and Belka. Both were launched by the Soviet Union in August 1960. Both managed to orbit Earth and land back on Earth alive.
These two dogs were launched on the Sputnik 5 mission which actually carries several other types of animals. According to NASA's explanation, there are gray rabbits, 40 mice, and 15 bottles containing fruit flies and plants to see their lives.

There are many other animals that have succeeded in reaching outer space, including wasps, beetles, turtles, worms, fish, spiders, bees, ants, frog, rats, and others. Evenips are included in it.
Keep in mind that not all launches went well. Apart from being an animal that was unable to withstand shocks and other factors, there was a squirrel monkey namedLAY that was thrown from an altitude of 600 miles when it was launched in 1958. The animal died on landing.
