Half A Million US Citizens Already Infected With COVID-19
NEW YORK - This is not an achievement. But now, the number of positive cases of COVID-19 in a country has finally reached more than half a million people.
And the country that experienced it was the United States on Friday, April 10 yesterday. Data from Johns Hopkins University confirms this. Noted, 501,609 people have been infected in the United States.
That figure is jumping 30,000 to 35,000 a day as the United States is conducting a major test. In total worldwide, there are 1,698,835 people infected with COVID-19.
However, we still have to be grateful that 376,184 people have recovered. Still from Johns Hopkins University data, that figure is at least greater than the death rate of 102,684 people.
The United States is now the epicenter of the pandemic and the first country to record more than 2,000 deaths from the virus in one day. There were 2,108 deaths as of Friday, at least according to a Johns Hopkins University tally.
The government policy that requires all Americans to stay at home is indeed effective in reducing the spread of COVID-19. But that won't reduce the numbers drastically.
"Now is not the time to step back," said Dr. Anthony Fauci as reported by Channel News Asia.
