Six Police Involved In Darso's Death Case Immediately Undergo Ethics Trial

JAKARTA - The Yogyakarta Special Region Police will immediately hold a code of ethics trial against six members of the Yogyakarta City Resort Police who are suspected of being involved in the case of Darso's death (43), a resident of Mijen, Semarang City, Central Java.

"In the near future, because the process is still ongoing," said the Head of Public Relations of the Yogyakarta Regional Police, Kombes Ihsan, at the Yogyakarta Regional Police Headquarters, Sleman, Thursday.

One of the six police officers, namely the former Head of Law Enforcement of the Yogyakarta Police Traffic Unit, Adjunct Commissioner of Police Hariyadi, was named a suspect by the Central Java Police on Friday, February 21, 2025.

Meanwhile, five other police officers are still witnesses in the process of investigating cases of abuse, resulting in the death of a victim named Darso.

Ihsan ensured that the Yogyakarta Regional Police were cooperative and fully supported the legal process that was running at the Central Java Regional Police.

In this case, said Ihsan, the Central Java Regional Police handled the criminal process, while the Yogyakarta Regional Police processed allegations of ethical violations related to the handling of traffic accidents by the six police officers.

Six members of the Yogyakarta Police suspected of being involved in the case have been relieved and transferred to the Yogyakarta Regional Police.

According to Ihsan, the alleged ethical violations committed include irregularities in procedures in handling traffic accidents, including beatings and the use of non-dinas clothes when picking up Darso.

"We are here to handle the violation of these members in handling accident. Because they are not professional, until there is a beating, there he goes there wearing clothes that are not formal or not official clothes. This is of course a process of ethical violation. Now, this is what handles the Yogyakarta Regional Police," explained Ihsan.

He emphasized that the code of ethics trial that was prepared was aimed at taking action against members who were proven to have violated and as an evaluation and improvement so that similar incidents would not be repeated within the Police.

"We will definitely take the wrong members according to the portion of their mistakes. The final verdict will be determined by the Code of Ethics Session Commission," said Ihsan.

On that occasion, Ihsan also expressed his concern and apologies to the victim's family.

"We are concerned and of course apologize, especially to the victim. We apologize and are concerned about this case for the actions of our members," said Ihsan.

This case stems from a traffic accident that occurred on July 12, 2024, on Jalan Mas Suharto, Danurejan, Yogyakarta City. The accident involved a motorcycle rider named Tutik Wiyanti and a car driven by Darso. As a result of the incident, Tutik suffered injuries to the neck.

On the same day, Tutik's husband, Restu Yosepta Gerimona, chased the car that Darso and two of his colleagues were traveling in.

Darso is suspected of trying to escape after taking Tutik to Bethesda Hospital, Lempuyangwangi. During the pursuit, Darso's car grazed Restu until it fell, which then reported the incident to the Yogyakarta Police.

Based on the identity of Darso's ID card which was photographed by the victim's family, six personnel from the Yogyakarta Police Gakkum Unit then picked up Darso in Semarang City on September 21, 2024 for investigation purposes.

However, on January 10, 2025, the Darso family reported members of the Yogyakarta Police Traffic Unit to the Central Java Regional Police for alleged abuse that resulted in Darso's death after being treated at a hospital in Semarang.
