Not Participating In Magelang Retret, Koster: We Are Still Concerning The Situation Is Not Wearing, Not Fighting

DENPASAR - Bali Governor Wayan Koster finally opened his voice regarding the reasons for not participating in the retret of regional heads along with eight other regents/mayors throughout Bali at the Magelang Military Academy (Akmil).

Koster said that he did not participate because of the PDI-P's internal situation which was concerned about the detention of PDIP Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto by the KPK.

"Yes, because we are concerned, there is an unfavorable situation in the internal (political party)," said Koster, Thursday, February 27.

This internal condition was also conveyed by the Chairperson of the PDI-P Megawati Soekarnoputri in her instruction letter asking the elected regional head to postpone the retreat until he received further directions.

According to him, they did not make a mistake in this incident and showed solidarity, but it could not be interpreted as an effort to fight the retret agenda of regional heads initiated by President Prabowo.

"It's not that we fought back, we were very encouraged to take part in the retreat, only yesterday's situation was less conducive," said the Governor of Bali.

The chairman of the Bali PDI-P DPP admitted that the regional head retreat which took place from 21-28 February 2025 was an important activity.

There, said Koster, regional heads can build an atmosphere of togetherness, collaboration, and synergy, so that to replace the opportunities he missed, it is certain that Koster will follow the second wave of retreat.

Although he did not follow the first wave, he said there was no problem with the central government, considering that the Ministry of Home Affairs had indeed prepared a two-wave pattern.

"Because there are wave one and wave two patterns, we are following the second wave, good relations (with the central government) have no problems," he said.
