Mac Skyrockets! Apple Beats PC Giants And Takes AI Market
JAKARTA A recent report from Canalys shows that the Mac market share is growing faster than the three largest PC brands in the world in the last quarter of 2024. In addition, Apple also dominates the PC market with artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities, far ahead of its competitors in the industry.
Currently, Apple controls about 10% of the global PC market share, placing it in fourth place after Lenovo, HP, and Dell. However, Canalys' report reveals that Mac experienced its most rapid growth in the last quarter of last year.
"Apple closed Q4 2024 strongly, grew much faster than the top three vendors and reached a 10.2% market share in the total PC market and 45% in the AI-based PC segment," said Canalys analyst Jessop.
In addition, Apple is also predicted to be increasingly aggressive in targeting the corporate market. The company plans to launch an Apple Partner Network this year, a simplified partnership program to facilitate Mac adaptation in the business environment. This strategy is believed to help Apple expand its reach to the corporate sector, which so far uses more Windows-based PCs.
Based on Canalys data, the following is the global PC market share based on brands:
In the PC category equipped with a special AI chip, Apple dominates with a market share of 45%, far ahead of Lenovo and HP, which only get 12% each.
The Canalys report shows that 17% of all PCs sent throughout 2024 have AI capabilities, and this figure is predicted to continue to increase as AI usage in the world of computing increases.

While currently AI is not the main factor in PC purchase decisions, Canalys believes that better AI processor performance will create a more significant personalization experience and increase in productivity. This can ultimately be a determining factor in building brand loyalty in the future.
Although the current PC market is quite strong, especially as companies replace old devices due to the end of Windows 10 support, the new import rate policy in the United States could pose a major threat.
The Donald Trump administration has imposed a 10% tariff for all imports from China, which is the main source of laptop shipments to the US. This policy has the potential to hamper the cycle of commercial device updates and further burden the sluggish consumer market.
With a growing market share and dominance in the AI-based PC segment, Apple seems ready to strengthen its position in the computer industry. However, the challenges of global trade policy remain a factor that must be taken into account in the company's long-term strategy.
