Delegation From France, Germany To England Walk Out During A Russian Speech At The UN Human Rights Council

JAKARTA - Dozens of high-ranking officials came out during a Russian speech at the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva. This walk out is a form of Ukraine's support.

Reported by Reuters on Wednesday, February 26, delegates, including French, German and British ambassadors, gathered outdoors where the trial took place, to commemorate three years since Russia's massive invasion of Ukraine.

The UN previously adopted a resolution of the United States draft on the three-year anniversary of Russia's invasion of Ukraine taking a neutral position against the conflict.

The brief resolution reflects Trump's changes to the US policy on Ukraine after taking office last month and his softer stance on Russia.

Russia's ambassador to the United Nations Vassily Nebenzia acknowledged "constructive changes" in US positions against the conflict. He told the council the resolution was "not an ideal resolution," but "a starting point for future efforts towards a peaceful settlement," he said.

The 15-member UN DK has reached a stalemate during the war and has been unable to take any action.

On the other hand, the 193-member UN General Assembly has repeatedly supported Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity and called for fair, lasting, and comprehensive peace in accordance with the UN Charter.

The US previously failed to convince the General Assembly to pass the same three paragraph resolution adopted by the Security Council on Monday.

The resolution mourns the loss of life in the "Russian-Ukraine conflict", reiterating that the United Nations' goal is to maintain international peace and security and resolve disputes peacefully, and urgently end conflicts quickly and lasting peace.
