Prabowo: Danantara To Bank Emas Ikhtiar Towards Economic Independence
JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto stated that a number of strategic government policies that had just been launched, ranging from the Danantara Investment Management Agency to Bank Emas, were efforts towards economic independence.
He said this at the inauguration of the Pegadaian Gold Bank and Indonesian Sharia Bank Services at The Gade Tower, Jakarta, Wednesday, February 26.
"This month in February 2025, it can be said that it is a historic month in the journey of our Indonesian nation. The government that I lead has now carried out several strategic policies as an effort towards economic independence, towards a safe, just, prosperous, strong, and standing on our own feet," Prabowo said as quoted by ANTARA.
On Monday (17/2), the government announced a policy to strengthen national economic resilience through the obligation to store foreign exchange for the export of natural resources (DHE SDA) in the country.
The core of the government's latest policy, said Prabowo, is the obligation to place a 100 percent foreign exchange of natural resource exports within 12 months of placement in national banks in the country.
The President said the policy, which took effect on March 1, 2025, would increase foreign exchange of USD 80 billion in exports by 2025.
"With this step taking effect on March 1, the foreign exchange of our exports is estimated to increase by 80 billion US dollars by 2025 because we start March 1. It is estimated that 1 year will reach a minimum of 100 billion US dollars for our foreign exchange," said Prabowo.
Furthermore, the government launched the Anagatha Nusantara (Dantara) Power Investment Management Agency.
With total assets of more than 900 billion US dollars, the formation of the Danantara aims to accelerate the development of the downstream industry so that the added value of all natural resources and national production can increase significantly, even up to tens or hundreds of times.
Prabowo emphasized that Indonesia's wealth and potential are very large, but its management must be smarter, more careful, careful, and transparent.
"With good intentions, with a strong determination, by learning from all experience, with the desire to uphold a government that is clean and free from corruption, we believe and believe that our wealth will be maintained because our wealth belongs to our children and grandchildren," said the President.
President Prabowo also expressed his pride because for the first time in history, Indonesia today has a Gold Bank.
This step is considered important because Indonesia is the country with the sixth largest gold reserves in the world. Prabowo said that the preparation of the Gold Bank took more than 4 years.
Prabowo realizes that Indonesia is a rich country. National gold production has increased from 100 tons to 160 tons per year.
With the improvement of the service ecosystem, the President hopes that this can accelerate savings and increase Indonesia's gold reserves.
The President also hopes that the existence of Bank Emas can have a positive impact on the national economy.
