Engine Dead Ship In NTB Ampenan Waters Evacuated By SAR Team, Pulled To Nearest Port

JAKARTA - The joint SAR team evacuated the KM Hidup Makmur ship loaded with fertilizer that suffered engine damage in the waters west of Ampenan Beach, Mataram, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB)

Head of the Operations and Alert Section of the Mataram SAR Office, Saidar Rahmanjaya, said the ship was successfully recalled to Lembar Harbor on Wednesday, February 26, at 04.50 WITA with all the victims in safe condition.

"Directed using KM Bandar Bestari 06," Saidar said in a written statement in Mataram, Wednesday afternoon.

The KM Hidup Makmur ship, which departed from Banyuwangi to Maumere, carrying a fertilizer load, was damaged by the engine, so it needed evacuation assistance.

The Mataram SAR Office received the report and immediately carried out SAR operations by deploying dozens of personnel using the Rescue Boat (RB) 220 Mataram.

"After a search was carried out, the ship was found on Tuesday (February 25) night at 23.30 WITA, shifting slightly to the west from its initial position," he said.

Saidar said that all five victims, namely Dilang (49) the captain, Angga Putra Wardana (28) the convert, Nasrudin Sabano (41) the KKM, Irfan Jaya Fandi (30) the driver, and Muhammad Fadli (20) the helmsman were rescued and taken to Lembar Harbor.

"Four people from Sulawesi and one from Maumere," he explained.

The Mataram SAR Office coordinates with related parties, including KSOP Lembar, VTS Benoa, VTS Lembar, Polair Polda NTB, Lembar Health Quarantine Center, and ABK KM Bandar Bestari 06 for the evacuation process.
