Apple Successfully Overcome Folding Problems On IPhone Folding, Launching 2026 More Certain

JAKARTA - Apple is known as a company that prioritizes quality over being the first to adopt new technology. This also applies to their plans to launch a folding iPhone.

Samsung, which is Apple's most advanced screen supplier, is still struggling with the folding problem on its own foldable device. Therefore, about a year ago, Apple reportedly asked its suppliers to return to the early stages of development to find the best solution.

Folds Successfully Removed

According to a report from ETNews, this problem was finally resolved, and Apple is now satisfied with the latest screen samples developed by Samsung.

"Apple puts forward technical requirements that are difficult to overcome the weakness of foldable phones related to folding on screens. Now, the technology has reached the desired level," said an industry source quoted in the report.

The report also states that Apple insists on eliminating folds without considering production costs in order to produce superior products that differ from foldable phones already on the market. This success is touted as the result of close cooperation between Samsung and Apple's hinge supplier, Amphenol, which also produces hinges for the MacBook.

Progress Of Folding Phone Technology

Apple's success in overcoming this folding problem is further strengthened by the launch of the N5 Oppo Find this month. The latest foldable phone from the Oppo has received a lot of praise for having almost invisible display folds, much better than the folding screen used on the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6. This is proof that folding screen technology has reached a more advanced level than in previous years.

"The deep screen is so wide and barely disturbed by the folding of the screen. Although it doesn't completely disappear, these folds are very difficult to see even from a certain angle," wrote 9to5Google in its review.

IPhone Folding Maybe Launching In 2026

Speculation about the folding iPhone launch schedule continues to grow. Several previous reports mentioned that this device will only be available in 2027. However, recent reports suggest that Apple will most likely launch it sooner, namely in 2026.

ETNews reports that Apple plans to complete its production supply chain in April this year, a move the company usually takes about 12 to 18 months before the product actually launches. This indicates that the device will most likely be released in the second half of next year, coinciding with the launch of the iPhone 18.

If it is launched in 2026, the folding iPhone is predicted to be the most expensive iPhone ever. This device will most likely become an exclusive product that is only in demand by certain segments because of its high price.
