PDIP Corrects Megawati's Instructions On Retrets Of Regional Heads: Not Prohibiting But Delaying And Waiting For Directions
PDI Perjuangan (PDIP) said its general chairman, Megawati Soekarnoputri, had never banned regional heads from parties bearing the white-nosed bull from participating in retret activities in Magelang, Central Java. The instructions issued only asked them to postpone their departure.
This was conveyed by Ahmad Basarah, Chairman of the PDIP DPP as well as spokesman in response to the polemic of the Daily Instruction of PDIP General Chair Megawati Soekarnoputri numbered 7294/IN/DPP/II/2025 which was issued on February 20.
"In the instruction, the general chairman has never banned all his cadres who were elected regional heads in the 2024 Pilkada to participate in the retreat held by the government, in this case, the Ministry of Home Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia," said Ahmad Basarah at the PDIP DPP office, Menteng, Central Jakarta, Tuesday night, February 25.
Basarah explained that the daily instruction was issued the day before the retret or on February 20.
"The Chairperson of the PDI-P, Mrs. Megawati Soekarnoputri, clearly asked all of her cadres elected as regional heads in the 2024 Pilkada to postpone their trip to Magelang, Central Java," said the chairman of the PDIP MPR faction.
"And we are waiting for further directions from the Chairperson of the PDI-P. So we need to emphasize that Mrs. Megawati Soekarnoputri in her daily instructions as Chairperson of the PDI-P on February 20, 2025, has never prohibited her cadres who were elected regional heads from participating in the retreat," continued Basarah.
For regional heads who have not left, Basarah said, Megawati had asked them to stay in their area. "So that they can immediately work to serve the community," he explained.
"The message of the General Chairperson of the PDI-P to his cadres who were elected regional heads so that after President Prabowo was inaugurated, they were asked to prioritize real people's work by directly working to serve the people in their respective regions," said Basarah.
