Ambruk Road Project In South Korea's Anseong, 4 People Died

Four people were killed and six others injured as a result of a collapsed road construction project in South Korea.

The incident occurred at 09.49 a.m. local time, Tuesday, February 25, in Anseong, about 70 km (43.5 miles) from Seoul.

Five concrete structures measuring 50 meters that support the highway bridge collapsed one by one after being lifted to its place by crane.

Yonhap news agency reported four people were killed, including two Chinese nationals, and six others were injured, including five people in critical condition. The five also include one Chinese citizen.

They were installing a deck on the bridge, firefighters said at a televised press conference.

"The ten people were on the deck and fell from both sides when the structure collapsed," he continued.

Rescue workers at the site were seen checking twisted metal buffers and cracked concrete slabs under the highway bridge column.

Acting President Choi Sang-mok ordered to deploy all existing personnel and resources to save missing persons and ensure security measures to prevent further damage.

Meanwhile, the National Fire Department said it deployed three helicopters and nearly 150 officers for search and rescue operations.
