The Ministry Of Energy And Mineral Resources Is Evaluating The News Of The GNI Smelter Which Is Threatened To Close
JAKARTA - Deputy Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Yuliot Tanjung revealed that his party is still evaluating the news of the risk of closing PT Gunbuster Nickel Industry (GNI), North Morowali.
"Yes, we will evaluate it first. Each company has problems. Is this true that the problem is pure business or there are problems, other factors, which cause it," said Yuliot, quoted on Tuesday, February 25.
If later the company closes, Yuliot firmly asks the company to fulfill its obligations to the rights of employees.
"This if business activities are closed, it must be completed. They cannot just run away without the completion of their obligations," continued Yuliot.

Just so you know, this issue circulated because there were problems that befell the GNI's parent company in China, Jiangsu Delong, who failed to pay his debts, resulting in the risk of closing operations.
Quoted from Bloomberg, PT GNI postponed payments to suppliers so that they could not obtain nickel ore for smelter processing.
Not only the GNI, but Jiangsu Delong is also an investor behind the nickel downstream project in Indonesia managed by PT Virtue Dragon Nickel Industry (VDNI) and PT Obsidian Stainless Steel (OSS) in Konawe and Southeast Sulawesi.
