Perpetrators Of Bercelurit Brawl In Medan Sentenced To 15 Months In Prison

The panel of judges at the Medan District Court, North Sumatra sentenced M Ryan Al Farizi to 15 months in prison, because he was proven to be carrying a sharp weapon (sajam) in the form of a sickle while involved in a brawl on Jalan Pemuda, Medan City.

"Sentenced the defendant M Ryan Al Farizi to imprisonment for one year and three months," said Chief Judge Hendra Hutabarat at the Medan District Court, Monday, February 24, as reported by ANTARA.

The judge stated that the defendant Ryan was found guilty of committing a crime of firearms or sharp objects, as stated in the Medan Public Prosecutor's single indictment (Public Prosecutor).

"The defendant violated Article 2 paragraph (1) of the Emergency Law Number 12 of 1951 concerning Changing Ordonantie Tijdelijke Bijzondere Strafbepalingen or STBL.1948 Number 17," explained Judge Hendra.

After listening to the verdict, the defendant Ryan accepted the verdict. Meanwhile, the Public Prosecutor of the Medan Prosecutor's Office, Rocky Sirait, stated whether he thought about filing an appeal or accepting the verdict.

This is because the verdict given by the panel of judges was lighter than the demands of the Public Prosecutor Rocky Sirait, previously charged the defendant Ryan with two years and six months or 2.5 years in prison.

The prosecutor Rocky in his previous indictment stated that the case that ensnared the defendant Ryan began on Sunday, June 2, 2024 at 4.30 WIB.

"At that time, three police officers from the Medan Polrestabes received information about a brawl on Jalan Pemuda, Aur Village, Medan Maimun District," he said.

Based on this information, the police then went to the location to provide security.

"Arriving at the location, the police immediately arrested the defendant, the child with the initials YP, the child with the initials MY, and the child with the initials KF, as well as several other people," explained Rocky.

During the arrest, said the prosecutor, the police also found a tool used for the brawl, including a samurai and three sickles.

After that, the police arrested the defendant with evidence of a sickle in his hand. Furthermore, the defendant Ryan and his friends were taken to the police station for further investigation, "said Rocky Sirait.
