South Sumatra Satpol PP Has Prepared A SE For Night Entertainment Places To Stop Operations During Ramadan

The South Sumatra Province Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol PP Sumsel) appealed to nightclubs in the area to stop operating during Ramadan 1446 Hijri.

Head of the South Sumatra Satpol PP Aris Saputra said his party had prepared a circular regarding the enforcement of regional regulations (perda).

However, the letter is still waiting for the signature of the Governor of South Sumatra who is currently undergoing retret activities in Magelang.

Although the official circular has not yet been issued, it has coordinated with Satpol PP in 17 districts/cities in South Sumatra. This coordination aims to ensure order and comfort during the month of Ramadan.

Based on Regional Regulation Number 2 of 2017, during the month of Ramadan, activities in nightclubs such as discotheques, karaoke, and massage parlors were temporarily suspended, with the aim of respecting Muslims who are fasting.

"As applied in previous years, entertainment venues must follow policies by stopping activities during Ramadan," he said in Palembang, Antara, Monday, February 24.

However, restaurants are still allowed to operate but taking into account ethics and sensitivity, such as closing the restaurant storefront to be closed so as not to be too flashy.

"This is to maintain a conducive, safe, comfortable, and reflect mutual respect between religious communities," said Aris.
