Efforts By Visitors To Smuggle 33.5 Grams Of Methamphetamine To Semarang Prison Were Successfully Thwarted By Officers
SemarANG - Semarang Prison Officers together with the Directorate of Drug Investigation of the Central Java Police thwarted an attempt to smuggle around 33.5 grams of methamphetamine and ecstasy drugs brought by being stored in the rectum by visitors.
Head of Semarang Prison Mardi Santoso said the smuggling attempt was carried out by visitors with the initials HS on February 12, 2025.
Prison officers have received information that there will be prison visitors who bring in drugs during the visit schedule.
"Officers carry out monitoring, then conduct an examination of the visitors in question," he said in Semarang, quoted from Antara, Monday, February 24.
When searched, he said, several packages were found hidden in the rectum. Officers secured nearly 30 grams of crystal methamphetamine and 3.4 grams of ecstasy that had been smoothed out.
The smuggling attempt was the second carried out by the perpetrator. The methamphetamine and ecstasy itself, he continued, were handed over to an inmate named Nursila Adijaya, a convict in a drug abuse case who was sentenced to 6.5 years.
For their actions, the two suspects were charged with Law 35 of 2009 concerning drugs.
