Deputy Minister Stella Emphasizes The Importance Of Research On The Opening Of SBRMUN 2025
JAKARTA - Deputy Minister of Higher Education, Science and Technology (Wamendiktisaintek) Prof. Stella Christie emphasized the importance of research in advancing humanity and sustainability when opening the 2025 Model United Nations (SBRMUN) Grand Bogor School.
"Research is not just a tool for progress, they are the main driving force for sustainable economic development through effectiveness and efficiency," said Prof. Stella when he was a speaker at an event that took place at the Bogor City High School, West Java, Saturday.
At the event, Prof. Stella told SBRMUN 2025 participants that they should prioritize ethical proof-based solutions and innovations.
According to him, investment in research ensures that humans create solutions that are not only innovative but also responsible and beneficial for society at large.

He also added that the younger generation must have a mindset as researchers who are always curious about a natural and social phenomenon.
After delivering the material, the participants gave several questions regarding the development and implementation of scientific research in Indonesia. An interactive dialogue ensued between Prof Stella and the participants.
In one of the answers, Prof. Stella said that the government will continue to encourage the development of scientific research in Indonesia.
Meanwhile, the Principal of SBR Arning Rani Wulandari explained that this annual United Nations Model conference was attended by 160 high school students from the Greater Jakarta area.
In SBRMUN which carries the theme 'Utilizing the Strength of ST.E.M. for Global Development and Sustainability', the participants are divided into several constituents such as WHO, UNESCO, and journalists, to discuss the latest global issues.
"This explores the role of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics in building a sustainable and fair future for all," he said.
The SBRMUN 2025 lasted for two days on February 22-23 with topics covered covering climate change mitigation, clean energy policy, progress in medical research, and artificial intelligence-based solutions for global challenges.
During the event, participants were involved in in-depth debates, simulations of policymaking, and collaborative problem-solving sessions on various committees.
The delegates demonstrated their ability to propose innovative resolutions by integrating S.T.E.M. in diplomacy to deal with world-urgent issues.
