Minister Of Culture Fadli Zon: Semesta Arkiv Presents Unbounded Creativity
JAKARTA The single exhibition of contemporary artists from Bandung, Arkiv Vilmansa, entitled "SEMESTA ARKIV" was officially held at the Indonesian National Gallery.
The exhibition, which took place from February 22 to May 11, 2025, is the result of a collaboration between the Museum and Cultural Heritage of the Indonesian National Gallery unit, Studio Arkiv, and the Zen1 Gallery.
The opening of the exhibition was carried out by fashion designer, artist, and art lover Didit Hediprasetyo on Friday, February 21, 2025, and was attended by the Minister of Culture and Deputy Minister of Culture.
Reflection On Art, Technology, And Freedom Of Expressions
Curated by Rizki A. Zaelani, this exhibition carries a philosophical perspective that refers to Friedrich Nietzsche's thoughts: "We have art so as not to experience reality deaths." Arkiv's works feature dialogue between contemporary art and reality, where technology is seen as not a threat, but as a tool to strengthen the autonomy of human expression.
Through the "ARKIV SEMESTA", Arkiv presents an exploration of imagination that invites the public to celebrate diversity and freedom. The contemporary art is shown as a bridge between tradition, technology, and future hopes.
Support from the Minister of Culture for the "ARKIV SEMESTA" Exhibition
During his visit, the Minister of Culture considered that this exhibition was a new spirit for the development of pop art in Indonesia. According to him, the "SEMESTA ARKIV" reflects the spirit of the times with unlimited creativity and can be an inspiration for Indonesian players.
"We need more forums and platforms to educate and provide narratives to the younger generation in appreciating Indonesian fine arts. The digital world is indeed developing, but the most important thing is how we build deeper appreciation for works of art," said the Minister of Culture.
More Than 100 Works In Five Big Themes
This exhibition features more than 100 works by Arkiv Vilmansa, consisting of paintings, statues, installations, and art toys. All of these works are presented in five major themes spread across several Indonesian National Gallery buildings, namely:
"This exhibition is a tribute to the sea, color, and collaboration. I would like to invite art connoisseurs not only to look, but also to feel how art can become a medium that frees, even in the midst of the complexities of the times," said Arkiv Vilmansa.
