Pertamina Inaugurates LPG Bima Terminal To Strengthen East Indonesia's Energy Supply
JAKARTA - PT Pertamina (Persero), through Subholding Commercial & Trading, PT Pertamina Patra Niaga, officially operates Elpiji Bima Terminal, one of the National Strategic Projects (PSN) aimed at supporting energy security in Eastern Indonesia.
Pertamina Patra Niaga, Director of Land Engineering and Infrastructure, Eduward Adolf Kawi, said that the construction of the Elpiji Bima Terminal is part of the government's assignment to support the energy conversion program and strengthen the distribution of LPG in Eastern Indonesia.
"This project is a strategic step in increasing public access to energy," he said, Saturday, February 22.

He continued, the Bima LPG Terminal construction project began in March 2019 and was completed at the end of 2023. Despite having faced challenges due to the COVID-19 pandemic which hampered its completion, this project was finally operational as planned.
"With the presence of this LPG terminal, we can ensure that the distribution of LPG is more efficient, equitable, and can reach more people, especially in areas where energy access has been difficult," he added.
Furthermore, Eduward explained that the LPG Bima Terminal is one of the boosters of LPG distribution to meet the energy needs of the people in West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), which was previously carried out by sending tank skids using a landing craft tank (LCT) from Lombok LPG Terminal to Sumbawa Island.
On the same occasion, the Coordinator of Oil and Gas Infrastructure Development Planning, Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Sugiarto, revealed that the construction of the LPG Terminal is part of the government's assignment as mandated in the Decree of the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources of the Republic of Indonesia No. 2157 K/10/MEM/2017.
The construction of the LPG Terminal, especially in Eastern Indonesia, is part of the government's assignment through the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources. Of the four assigned locations, three of them are Jayapura, Wayame, and Bima have been completed and are ready to operate, while one other location in Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara, is still in the process of being completed," said Sugiarto.
