YOGYAKARTA The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) detained the Mayor of Semarang Hevearita Gunaryanti Rahayu (HGR) or who is familiarly called Mbak Ita and her husband, Alwin Basri (AB) on Wednesday, February 19, 2025 afternoon. Both were detained as suspects in the alleged corruption and extortion case within the Semarang City Government (Pemkot).

The corruption case that ensnared Mbak Ita began to emerge when anti-corruption agencies suddenly conducted searches related to three cases in a number of regional agencies and organizations within the Semarang City Government on Wednesday, July 17, 2024.

The three cases investigated by the KPK at that time were cases of procurement of goods and services, extortion, to allegations of receiving gratuities.

According to Antara's report, Monday, July 22, 2024, Mbak Ita only appeared in public during a plenary meeting at the Semarang City DPRD. At that moment, Mbak Ita emphasized that she was in good condition and would follow the procedures carried out by the KPK.

In the first case, Mbak Ita and her husband are suspected of being involved in alleged corruption in the project to procure a seat for elementary school engineering at the Semarang city education office. Both are suspected of receiving Rp1.7 billion.

In the second case, Mbak ita and Arwin were suspected of extorting ASN from the Semarang City Regional Revenue Agency (Bapenda) after signing a draft of the Semarang City ASN Additional Employee Income (TPP). In this case, both of them received Rp2.4 billion.

Meanwhile, in the last case, Mbak Ita and Alwin were suspected of being involved in the arrangement of the direct appointment project at the sub-district level. In this case, Alwin allegedly received Rp2 billion in money.

On Tuesday, July 30, 2024, Mbak Ita and her husband underwent an examination at the KPK building regarding procurement at the Semarang City Education Office.

Five months after attending the examination at the KPK, Mbak Ita submitted a pretrial to the South Jakarta District Court (PN) South Jakarta. However, the application was rejected. Mbak Ita's suspect status in the alleged corruption case of procurement and services within the Semarang City Government is valid.

In Mbak Ita's pretrial trial against the KPK at the South Jakarta District Court, Tuesday, February 14, 2025, Judge Jan Oktavianus stated that the investigation carried out by the KPK was in accordance with the procedure.

After the South Jakarta District Court rejected the pretrial lawsuit, the KPK detained Mbak Ita and her husband, Arwin Basri. Both were detained after undergoing the fifth examination which was held on Wednesday, February 19, 2025.

Previously, Mbak Ita was recorded four times absent from the KPK examination as a suspect in the alleged corruption case within the Semarang City Government. Mbak Ita's summons as a suspect was carried out on December 10, 2024, January 17 and 22, and February 11, 2025.
