Indonesia Again Participates In SATTE 2025 India Strengthens Existence In South Asian Market

JAKARTA - In order to strengthen the existence of Indonesian tourism in the South Asian region and increase the visit of Indian tourists to Indonesia, the Ministry of Tourism (Kemenpar) has again joined the South Asia's Travel and Tourism Exchange (SATTE) 2025.

The Deputy for Marketing at the Ministry of Tourism, Ni Made Ayu Marthini, said that the participation of the Ministry of Tourism in SATTE 2025 is one of the efforts to maintain the existence of Indonesian tourism in the South Asian region and increase tourist visits from India to Indonesia.

"SATTE 2025 is also an effort to bring together Indonesian tourism industry players and India to conduct business transactions through the sale of tourist packages, especially Bali destinations and 5 DPSP. SATTE is also the right means to expand the network and cooperate with potential partners in India," said Ni Made Ayu Marthini.

The largest tourism exchange (B2B) in South Asia will be held at the Yashobhoomi (India International Convention & Expo Center), New Delhi on 19-21 February 2025. The Indonesian Pavilion will occupy 162 square meters of land in Hall 2C, booth C62.

Made revealed that India is one of the most potential foreign tourist markets for Indonesia. According to data released by the Central Statistics Agency, the number of Indian tourist visits to Indonesia in 2024 reached 710,688 people, with Indian foreign tourists growing around 17.2 percent compared to 2023.

India is ranked sixth as the country with the highest number of foreign tourists visiting Indonesia after Malaysia, Australia, Singapore, China, and Timor Leste.

Based on data from the Directorate General of Immigration in January 2025, India was ranked third after Australia and China from the top 20 countries of origin of the arrival of foreigners (foreign nationals) to Bali.

"Currently Bali is still the top of mind for Indian tourists for the family, honeymoon, wedding, and MICE segments," said Made.

Realizing this potential, Kemenpar remains committed to participating in SATTE 2025, and conducting collaborative marketing in the form of sharing costs with tourism industry players as a step to address budget efficiency.

The Ministry of Tourism collaborated with 46 selected companies, consisting of 3 platinum partners (Marriott International, Taman Safari Indonesia, and VFS Global), 11 premium partners, and 32 regular partners. Of these, 84.8 percent of the companies came from Bali Province, and the rest came from Jakarta and Yogyakarta.

Apart from being followed by companies that are old players in the Indian market, in SATTE 2025 there are also new names that have never previously participated in SATTE. This is certainly a breath of fresh air to expand the reach of the market with more varied tour packages.

Special interest tourism packages such as marine tourism offered by Aneecha Sailing Catamaran (Indonesian Maritime Tourism Shipping) also participated in SATTE this year. In addition, many of these companies sell wellness tourism packages that are usually not far from the honeymoon segment.

Made revealed that the sale of these tour packages could encourage one of the 5 leading programs of the Ministry of Tourism in 2025, one of which is Class Rising Tourism. This program aims to improve Indonesia's image as a quality tourism destination through special interest tourism.

The Ministry of Tourism through the Deputy for Marketing also sees the potential to work on spiritual tourism which focuses on the Siwaratri celebration which is a Hindu holy day which is celebrated every year. Prambanan Temple, which is the largest Hindu temple in Indonesia, is expected to be a potential attraction in the Siwaratri celebration.

The hope is that in the future the Siwaratri celebration at Prambanan Temple can become the center of world attention, especially for the Indian market, which is predominantly Hindu.

In the success of SATTE 2025, in addition to collaborating with tourism industry players, Kemenpar also collaborated with the Indonesian Embassy in New Delhi, which is an extension of the Indonesian government in India to help deliver tourism updates during the SATTE exhibition.

"Currently representatives of the Ministry of Tourism cannot attend directly in India. However, budget efficiency will not hinder the achievement of targets, but is a strategic step to increase effectiveness and collaboration with various parties, including with the Indonesian Embassy and the Indonesian Consulate General in the Republic of Indonesia," said Made.
