Missing 3 Days, Mount Malanglayang Climber Sumedang Found Selamat

JAKARTA - The joint Search And Rescue (SAR) team managed to find a male climber who had previously been missing for three days in the Gunung Malanglayang area, Sumedang Regency, West Java.

Pengata Manage Search and Rescue at the Bandung SAR Office, Mamang Fatmono, said that the victim Wendi Ibnu Al Farizi (23), a resident of Bandung Regency, was found by a team with a safe condition while walking to the climbing post.

"After finding the survivors, they were immediately handled by the joint SAR team by changing their wet survivors and checking their health," said Mamang as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, February 19.

He said the victim who climbed Mount Mangliding alone was reported missing since Monday (17/2), then the joint SAR team searched for victims.

The search carried out by the joint SAR team, he said, in several ways, apart from walking down the hiking trail, a search was also carried out by monitoring in the air using a drone.

"The joint SAR team has carried out search efforts until 16.30 WIB this afternoon with sweeping around the shadow peak and air search," he said.

He said that after successfully finding the victim and checking his health condition, the team would then take the victim to his house in Rancaekek District, Bandung.

"Furthermore, survivors will be evacuated or delivered to the house concerned in the Rancaekek District, Bandung Regency," he said.

Previously, the victim made the climb alone which was recorded on the hiking trail through Pos Barubeureum, Gunung Manglayang, Sumedang Regency, Sunday (16/2) night.

The victim before climbing had conveyed a message to his brother, if there was no news until Monday (17/2) then asked for help to be notified to his family.

"With the discovery of survivors, SAR operations are declared complete, and closed, all SAR elements return to their respective units," said Mamang.
