MoU Technology With The Ministry Of P2MI, Erick Thohir Ensures Maximum Migrant Worker Service
JAKARTA - Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Erick Thohir collaborated with the Minister of Protection for Indonesian Migrant Workers (P2MI) Abdul Kadir Karding. This collaboration is to ensure that services to migrant workers can be maximized.
The cooperation was marked by the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU). The signing of this cooperation is a continuation of the meeting between the two some time ago.
Erick said there were a number of important points agreed in the cooperation. One of them is about synchronizing data on Indonesian migrant workers. This data alignment can be used as protection for migrant workers in the future.
Through data alignment, according to Erick, the government has an ecosystem in banks that continues to disburse People's Business Credit (KUR) funding, which amounts to around Rp255 trillion per year.
"Well, this is also how migrant workers who will return home can get access from funding for their next career," he said at the MoU event with the Ministry of P2MI, at the Ministry of P2MI office, Jakarta, Wednesday, February 19.
Furthermore, Erick said, the advantages in this collaboration for migrant workers can save when the worker is abroad.
Moreover, he continued, the government plans to soon launch a bullion bank or gold bank.
"So that migrant workers can also start saving with the gold system in the future, which for investment fluctuations is quite well maintained," he said.
In this collaboration, continued Erick, ensuring that services in SOE managed transportation facilities can be maximized for Indonesian migrant workers. This also refers to special waiting rooms at airports to other transportation lines.
"The Minister (P2MI) also asked how the socialization of these migrant workers can get access to various BUMN assets, both at airports, at ports, on trains and others we will carry out," he said.
Meanwhile, P2MI Minister Abdul Kadir Karding explained that the signing of the MoU with the Ministry of SOEs was aimed at improving the quality of PMI abroad.
Karding said that to achieve this, support from the Ministry of SOEs, the Ministry of Human Rights (HAM), PT Garuda Indonesia (Persero) Tbk, and the Indonesian Entrepreneur Chamber.
"We agree on two things, firstly, in the future this collaboration is in order to improve the quality of protection for Indonesian migrant workers. Second, we want to encourage the placement of Indonesian migrant workers to be of higher quality and also large quantity," he said.

"Because the placement of foreign workers will help to reduce domestic unemployment as well as encourage indirect economic growth and also strengthen the family's economy, especially the families of Indonesian migrant workers," he said.
