Darren Wang Arrested By Police, Allegedly Avoid Military Mandatory
JAKARTA - Taiwanese actor Darren Wang or known as Wang Ta Lu was reportedly arrested by the authorities for avoiding military service.
Launching the Straits Times, he was arrested at home on Tuesday, February 18 at 09.00 local time and arrived at the district attorney's office on the same day.
He reportedly ran into a number of media crews, but was reluctant to comment during the arrest process.
Manager Darren Wang also reportedly refused a phone call when questioned about his artist.
Wang is suspected of recruiting criminal syndicates to falsify his health records so he does not need to take part in military service. He paid the syndicate 1 million NT and pretended to have heart disease.

This is not the first time Darren Wang has been involved on suspicion of avoiding military service. In 2015, he reportedly used his educational status as a Toko University student to postpone his military service.
He postponed even though he rarely went to school. Wang said, 'I'm still young, why should I postpone my military duties? I will be on duty when the time comes.'
Darren Wang is a Taiwanese actor who became a hit thanks to his role as Hsu Tai Yu in the film Our Times in 2015. He last acted in the film No More Bets in 2023 which became a global hit.
