Amazon Will Remove E-Book Transfer Capabilities Via USB Cables

JAKARTA Amazon will remove features that some Kindle users may need, a device for reading digital books. This feature is the ability to manually copy e-books.

When a user selects the download option in the Kindle, they will see a pop-up that contains the warning of removing the feature. Users will not be able to move an e-book using a USB cable after 26 February.

Starting February 26, 2025, the option of 'Download & Transfer via USB' will no longer be available. You can still send the Kindle book to a Wi-Fi-capable device by selecting the option 'Send or Delete from Device', Kirdle wrote in his warning.

Actually, this feature is not very often used by Kindle users because they can send e-books using WiFi. However, this feature is useful if users do not have access to the WiFi network and want to download books via computer.

Transfer features are also useful for converting books purchased via Amazon to other formats such as EPUB. It's not explained why this feature was removed, but also Amazon's spokesperson explained that the current transfer capability at Kindle is quite easy.

"Customers can continue to read books previously downloaded on their Kindle devices and access new content through the Kindle, Kindle for web app, as well as directly through the Kindle device with WiFi capabilities," Amazon spokeswoman Jackie Burke said. Verge on Tuesday, February 18th.

Although this feature is deleted, users can still move or copy e-books manually or via USB using Amazon applications or third-party solutions. This feature only does not work on transferring copies of books purchased from computers.
