PBSI Tak Jamin Menurutkan Tim Elite Di Piala Sudirman 2025

JAKARTA The Central Board of the Indonesian Badminton Association (PP PBSI) does not guarantee that they will deploy their elite team when Indonesia takes part in the 2025 Sudirman Cup.

The 2025 Sudirman Cup is scheduled to take place from 27 April 2025 to 4 May 2025 at Fenghuang Gymnasium, Xiamen, China. This is the 19th edition since it first took place in 1989.

Head of the PBSI Development and Achievement Division, Eng Hian, said that his party would prepare the best team and the most prepared to play in the biennial mixed team event.

"Yes (not necessarily the elite team that was deployed), depending on readiness. It is better for us to invest than we force only an elite team, but the players are not ready," said Eng Hian in Jakarta on Monday, February 17, 2025, evening WIB.

The squad that will play in the 2025 Sudirman Cup will be monitored by PBSI during the European tour for the next two months. If you refer to the BWF calendar, there are four tournaments that can be used as preparation.

The four events took place before the Sudirman Cup in a row starting from the German Open (25 February 2 March), Orleans Masters (4-9 March), All England (11-16 March), and Swiss Open (18-23 March).

"Of course, this European tournament series is our evaluation material for compiling the Sudirman team."

"We will see how far the elite team is and how far our coating team is," said Eng Hian.

Indonesia locked tickets to the Sudirman Cup after appearing at the 2025 Badminton Asia Mixed Team Championship (BAMTC) in China last week. The event is also a qualification for the Sudirman Cup.

The four teams that qualified for the BAMTC semifinals have the right to appear in this year's edition of the Sudirman Cup.

Indonesia, which qualified for the final and automatically won, has the right to one ticket along with three other teams, namely China, Japan, and Thailand.

In the history of the Sudirman Cup, Indonesia has only won once. The only trophy was obtained in the first edition by defeating South Korea at Istora Senayan, Jakarta.
