Keenan Nasution Rejects IDR 50 Million From Vidi Aldiano, This Is The Reason

JAKARTA - Keenan Nasution revealed that he had been visited by someone who claimed to be the manager of Vidi Aldiano, and gave some money as a sign of gratitude.

As is known, Keenan Nasution is the figure behind the song Nuansa Bening which was re-populated by Vidi.

Keenan himself wrote Nuansa Bening and released it in 1978 which later became a popular song at the time.

Then, Vidi reiterated the song Nuansa Bening in 2008, as material for the album 'Pelangi at Night'.

When asked by Vidi's manager last year, Keenan, who told him in a disappointed tone, said that he refused to receive some money given by Sheila Dara's husband.

"My song, which 'Nuansa Bening' was sung by Vidi, was around 2008. I just met the manager in 2024, came to my house, brought 50 million," said Keenan at a press conference with ACTION. in Fatmawati, South Jakarta, Monday, February 17th.

"It's a sign of gratitude (royalti performing rights). Oh, oh, come on, I won't take it, (I said) 'Later we'll take care of it.'

Not without reason when Keenan refused the money. He saw the way Vidi and his management were inappropriate.

"I don't like that method, I never came to find out what money was, what are you doing," said Keenan.

"Yes, what is the way, really we ask for money, no, say hi. I don't think (the way) is right then," he continued.

Asked further about the royalties of performing rights obtained from Vidi's appearance when performing Nuansa Bening' since the enactment of the Copyright Law in 2014 Keenan did not provide a detailed answer. But he looks disappointed with his junior.

As a songwriter whose work was performed by another singer, Keenan felt there should be good communication. However, that communication did not happen with Vidi.

"(The singer who wrote my song) maybe there is something he doesn't know (I am the creator), there are also those who carelessly. (Vidi) maybe he doesn't know, but his father knows," concluded Keenan.
