Unable To Have Documents Desperately Passing Lampung, 2 Cars Carrying 1.6 Million Shrimps From Attack Are Secured

LAMPUNG - Fish and Lampung Animal Quarantine Center officers from the Bakauheni Port Service Unit thwarted the smuggling of 1.6 million illegal Windu shrimp fry at Bakauheni Port.

Head of Quarantine, Animals, Fish, and Lampung Plants Donni Muksydayan explained that millions of windu fry were secured because the commodity was not equipped with complete or illegal required documents.

"Yesterday, on the evening of Sunday, February 16, Lampung Quarantine officers detained two cars carrying illegal windu shrimp fry at Bakauheni Port," he said when confirmed, Monday, February 17, was confiscated by Antara.

According to him, the car was detained after being desperate to pass even though it had been prohibited to cross because the commodity was not equipped with complete required documents.

He explained that the detention of the car began when the Lampung Quarantine officer received a report from the Banten Quarantine officer about a vehicle carrying windu shrimp fry that was desperate to pass to Sumatra Island, even though the commodity had been rejected.

"Based on applicable regulations, shrimp fry that will be sent between areas or outside the region must be equipped with quarantine documents and laboratory test results to ensure that the fry is free from disease," he said.

He explained, based on the driver's statement, the windu shrimp seeds came from Serang and would be taken to Rawa Jitu, Lampung.

"Further inspection results, officers found 990,000 shrimp fry transported by each vehicle and 660,000 with a total of 1,650,000 heads," he said.

Therefore, he stated that the detention was a firm step in an effort to maintain the sustainability of fishery resources in the Lampung area.

"We will not tolerate any party who tries to ignore the rules and bring fishery commodities without the completeness of valid documents," he said.

The detention of cars carrying illegal fry is a warning to other parties who intend to ship fishery commodities without meeting the requirements set for the sustainability of marine and fishery ecosystems in Indonesia.

"Officers carry out further investigations and take action in accordance with Law Number 21 of 2019," he said.
