Update On COVID-19 As Of April 21: New Cases Of 5,720, Active Cases 101,106

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) releases the latest additional positive cases of COVID-19 today. A total of 72,561 specimens were examined with results of 5,720 new positive cases of COVID-19.

"The total accumulation of positive cases since COVID-19 was discovered in Indonesia reached 1,620,560 people and 101,106 active cases," he was quoted as saying from the Ministry of Health's data, Wednesday, April 21.

Today, 7,314 cases have been recovered, so that a total of 1,475,456 people have recovered. Then, the confirmed positive cases that died increased by 230 people and the total was 44,007 people.

The province with the most new cases is in West Java with 1,004 cases and a total of 270,711 cases. Followed by Central Java, which has 973 new cases with a total of 180,489 cases. DKI Jakarta has 602 new cases and a total of 401,110 cases. Then, West Sumatra has 253 new cases and a total of 34,916 cases.

The province with the most cases recovered today belongs to West Java with an increase of 2,308 recovered cases. Followed by Central Java with an increase of 2,082 recovered cases, DKI Jakarta with an increase of 573 recovered cases, and DI Yogyakarta with an increase of 242 cases recovered.

There is one province that reported no new cases as of today. Provinces that reported zero new cases were and Gorontalo.

In addition, the number of specimens that had been examined using RT-PCR, TCM, and antigen reached 14,032,928.

"Positive results per number of specimens examined or this week's positivity rate of 16.77 percent," he wrote.

For the number of people suspected of having contracted COVID-19 or who are currently categorized as suspected cases, it was recorded at 62,411 people. Currently, 510 districts / cities from 34 provinces have COVID-19 cases.

Currently, 11,269,213 people have been vaccinated against the first dose of COVID-19 and 6,322,003 vaccinated against the second dose. Meanwhile, the total target of priority vaccination for phase 1 and 2 reached 40,349,051 people.
