Ahead Of Ramadan, Imports Of Dates Reach 16.43 Thousand Tons
JAKARTA - The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) reported an increase in imports of dates ahead of Ramadan 2025.
Acting Head of BPS Amalia Adininggar Widyasanti said the trend of increasing imports of dates was seen from last month, where in December 2024 there were 10.55 thousand tons and in January 2025 16.43 thousand tons with a value of 20.68 million US dollars.
"It can be seen that the trend of imports of dates in the last few months has begun to appear in preparation ahead of the Ramadan and Lebaran periods," he said at a press conference, Monday, February 17.
As for the percentage, imports of the January 2025 date as much as 16.43 thousand increased by 55.73 percent when compared to imports of dates in the previous month.
Amalia explained that the most imports of dates in January 2025 came from Egypt as much as 10.15 thousand tons with a share of 61.80 percent, Saudi Arabia as much as 1.88 thousand tons with a contribution of 11.42 percent, and the United Arab Emirates as much as 1.76 thousand tons with a share of 10.71 percent.
"If we look at the country of origin, the largest imports of dates came from Egypt as much as 10.15 thousand tons with approximately 61.80 percent of the total imports of Indonesian dates," he added.

Amalia said that the trend of imports of dates began to increase by about 5 months before the Ramadan Lebaran period, where the import value began to increase from October 2024 and in January 2025 it reached 16.43 thousand tons.
