SPAI Chair Admits There Is A Threat To Ojol Drivers, Break Up Partners If They Participate In The Demonstration

JAKARTA - The head of the Indonesian Transport Workers Union (SPAI), Lily Pujiati, admitted that she received information that there was a threat to online motorcycle taxi drivers (Ojol) if they participated in today's demonstration, Monday, February 17.

"Frankly, yes, we haven't maximized it because many friends are scared," Lily told reporters in the front yard of the Indonesian Ministry of Manpower (Kemnaker) Office, South Jakarta, Monday, February 17.

Lily said the threat experienced by ojol drivers was the termination of partners as drivers of the transportation company.

"There are threats from some applicators that when they join the demonstration, they will be cut off by partners," he said.

He also suspected that the number of demonstrators on the day was slightly due to bad road conditions, so the gathering was not optimal. However, Lily said this demonstration would run until 14.00 WIB.

"For today, around 1,000 people, but because of traffic jams on the road, it's a bit late to arrive. What is certain is that we are consistent. Tanjung Pinang, Pontianak, Pangkal Pinang, Sukabumi, Bandung, off the mass bid today," he said.

According to VOI monitoring at the location, dozens of ojol drivers were seen holding a demonstration at the Indonesian Ministry of Manpower Office, South Jakarta. They demanded that the government provide a circular so that drivers get holiday allowances (THR).

There were also police officers on guard at the location. So that this action went amicably.
