Hasto Kristiyanto Takes A Pretrial Against The KPK

JAKARTA - Secretary General (Secretary General) of the PDI-P (PDIP) Hasto Kristiyanto again took pretrial efforts after the previous application was rejected by the South Jakarta District Court (PN Jaksel).

This legal effort was made to sue the status of a suspect who was pinned by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) regarding the alleged bribery case of interim replacement (PAW) members of the DPR for the 2019-2024 period and the alleged obstruction of the investigation.

Hasto Kristiyanto's legal team, Ronny Talapessy, stated that a pretrial filing was made on Friday (16/2/2025) after the previous verdict was declared unacceptable on Thursday.

"On Friday we submitted a pretrial again after not being accepted into the verdict last Thursday," said Ronny.

In the previous verdict, the South Jakarta District Court's single judge stated that Hasto's pretrial application should have been filed in two separate lawsuits, one for alleged bribery and the other for alleged obstruction to the investigation. Based on these considerations, Hasto's legal team decided to re-submit the pretrial in a different format.

"We consider that there should be two separate pretrial applications, not combined in one application. In this way, we hope that the court can examine the subject matter of our pretrial case which has not been touched in the previous verdict," said Ronny.

The KPK has named Hasto Kristiyanto and his right-hand man Donny Tri Istiqomah (DTI), as suspects in the alleged bribery case for PAW members of the DPR for the 2019-2024 period. The determination of this suspect is the result of the development of the case that previously ensnared former PDIP candidate Harun Masiku (HM).

In this case, the KPK suspects that Hasto was involved in giving bribes to members of the General Election Commission (KPU) for the 2017-2022 period, Wahyu Setiawan and Agustiani Tio, in December 2019. The bribe was allegedly given so that Harun Masiku could be designated as a member of the DPR for the 2019-2024 period.

In addition, Hasto Kristiyanto is also suspected of conducting an investigation related to the Harun Masiku case. He is said to have taken a number of actions that hindered the KPK investigation process.

This case stems from a hand arrest operation (OTT) of the KPK in December 2019 which dragged the names of Harun Masiku and several parties related to the bribery of PAW members of the DPR. After going through a long investigation process, the KPK named Hasto as a suspect on suspicion of his involvement in the case.

Responding to the determination of this suspect, Hasto Kristiyanto took legal action by filing a pretrial as a form of resistance to his legal status. However, in the previous decision, the court rejected the pretrial on the grounds that the submission was not in accordance with the procedure.

This pretrial step shows that Hasto Kristiyanto's legal team is trying to sue the KPK's basis for determining the suspect. The development of this case will be in the public spotlight considering his position as secretary general of PDIP.
