Tim Cook Gives New Name Guidelines For IPhone SE 4, Jadi IPhone 16E?
JAKARTA - Ahead of the launch of the iPhone SE 4, which is expected to take place on February 19, 2025, there are strong indications that this device will experience a name change.
In early January 2025, a leak stated that the iPhone SE 4 will be given a new name, the iPhone 16E. Initially, this claim was considered doubtful because the source was less reliable, as well as the name "iPhone SE" has been a successful brand since 2016. However, the latest report from Bloomberg has now strengthened this speculation, especially after Tim Cook's upload on X.
The Apple CEO wrote, "Get ready to meet the newest member of the family," which means "Bersediam to meet this family's newest member."

Initially, many thought the statement referred to the iPhone SE 4. However, if you look deeper, the iPhone SE has been part of the iPhone family for nine years. This raises speculation that the device in question is really something new, including a possible name change.
Despite changing its name, this device is still believed to be the latest iPhone SE with various significant improvements. Previously, the iPhone SE model often used old technology, such as maintaining the Home button. However, the iPhone SE 4 is expected to be different.
One of the main changes is support for Apple Intelligence, which requires the device to have an adequate fast processor and RAM. In addition, some rumors say that the iPhone SE 4 will be equipped with Dynamic Island, although there are also reports denying it.
In terms of design, the iPhone SE 4 is believed to resemble the iPhone 14 which was released in 2022. This is in line with previous trends, where the SE model is based on older iPhone designs.
Another feature that is quite surprising is the possibility of the presence of Action Button, which was first introduced on the iPhone 15 Pro and will be standard on the iPhone 16 line. If true, this will bring the iPhone SE 4 closer to the latest model in the iPhone lineup, instead of just being a low-cost variant with old specifications.

Since its first release, the iPhone SE has always been the most affordable choice of the iPhone. If Apple is able to maintain low prices while embedding advanced features, the iPhone SE 4 or iPhone 16E has the potential to be a very attractive product.
However, the question now is whether this change is significant enough to justify the name change. If the iPhone SE 4 turns into the iPhone 16E, it also raises speculation whether Apple will introduce the "E" model on an annual basis, for example the iPhone 17E of the following year.
Apple does keep some of the old models on the market today, the iPhone 14 and iPhone 15 are still on sale with the iPhone 16. If the iPhone 16E is really present, it will most likely last more than a year in Apple's product line. However, this is contrary to the impression that this product is a "new member of the iPhone family," which should have a more consistent renewal cycle.
So far, no leaks have mentioned the presence of a similar model for the iPhone 17 line. All of these questions are likely to be answered at the official launch event on February 19, 2025.
