Fraud Case, Former Member Of The South Kalimantan HST DPRD Executed 3.5 Years In Prison At The Barabai Detention Center
SOUTH KALIMANTAN - The District Attorney's Office (Kejari) Hulu Sungai Tengah (HST) in South Kalimantan (Kalsel) executed a sentence against a member of the HST Regency DRPD for the 2014-2019 period Karya Tunnisa Widya Wanti, a convicted fraud case that cost others Rp6.8 billion.
"Previously, the convict submitted legal remedies to the level of cassation. However, the panel of judges at the Supreme Court of the Republic of Indonesia rejected the cassation. Now the convict has served a sentence at the Barabai HST Detention Center," said Head of the General Crime Section (Kasi Pidum) of the HST Kejari Herlinda in Barabai, Hulu Sungai Tengah, Thursday.
Herlinda explained that the chronology of cases occurred in 2018-2020 when the convict offered to borrow bailout capital for the official needs of a member of the HST Regency DPRD by promising a 10 percent profit (fee) to his friend, Fitria Ulfah.
At the beginning of the run, the convict gave the advantage of running smoothly so that the victim invited other friends up to 42 people to invest in the bailout capital cooperation.
In January 'March 2020, investment fees began to be problematic. After being traced by investors, it was found that the convict had never used the money as promised, but was misused.
The total capital invested until then is estimated at IDR 6.8 billion. The convict promised to return the money from the investors for various reasons. However, until two summons were carried out, there was no clarity until the case was brought to law enforcement officials in 2020.
Several years later, the case was only tried in 2023, the panel at the first level verdict at the Barabai District Court sentenced the convict to 3 years in prison for being proven to have committed fraud against Fitria Ulfah on Monday, March 4, 2024.

Legal efforts continued after the defendant filed an appeal. However, the panel of judges still found guilty of being proven guilty of committing fraud with the verdict increasing to 3.5 years in prison (city detention) in accordance with the verdict issued on Thursday, April 18, 2024.
The defendant filed a cassation against the decision on Thursday, July 25, 2024, over time, the panel of cassation judges decided to reject the appeal from the convict and public prosecutor at the HST Kejari.
After the long legal process, the convicted fraud convict was executed at the Barabai Detention Center to serve a sentence after the Supreme Court (MA) issued a verdict.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Barabai HST Detention Center, Komang Suparta, confirmed that he had received the execution of the convict and ensured that the criminal process would run in accordance with applicable regulations.
"We make sure that prisoners will receive the same treatment as other inmates and their rights will be given in accordance with applicable regulations. We have proposed the transfer of the convict to the Martapura Women's Prison, but are still waiting for permission," said Komang.
