Affirming Lido SEZ Temporarily Dismissed, KLH: We've Exposed The Experts

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Environment (KLH) has ensured that activities must be suspended in the Lido Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in West Java (West Java) for a while, waiting for recommendations for improvements that need to be made.

"Until now, we have explored yesterday with experts, as well as our staff who handle both administrative sanctions, in environmental disputes, and convicts, we have discussed it," said Deputy for Environmental Law Enforcement (Gakkum LH) Rizal Irawan in Jakarta, Thursday, February 13, quoted by Antara.

"We'll wait for administrative sanctions from us, which ones they need to fix, later there will be clues from experts. For the time being, they have to stop their activities first," said Rizal.

He said that the KLH had installed an environmental surveillance warning board on February 6 and that which was carried out with members of Commission XII of the DPR RI which was carried out on February 10.

However, development activities are reportedly still taking place, so Commission XII of the DPR RI plans to summon PT MNC Land Lido as the management of SEZ Lido. This was conveyed by Deputy Chairman of Commission XII DPR RI Bambang Haryadi in a working meeting with Minister LH Hanif Faisol Nurofiq on Wednesday, February 12.

"Next week we will call them, we will clarify here. If necessary, if they are not present, we will summon them," said Bambang.

The installation of the warning board was carried out after the KLH found a number of alleged violations, including development activities that were not in accordance with environmental documents. In addition, development activities are also suspected of causing the silting of Lido Lake.

KLH also found that there had been changes in the area of Lake Lido's water body in Bogor Regency, West Java. From the original 24.78 hectares now, based on satellite imagery, to 11.9 hectares or a reduction of about 12.88 hectares.
