Google Launches New Feature For Family Link, Makes It Easy For Parents To Monitor Children's Activities

JAKARTA - Google is rolling out some updates to Google Family Link, which will help parents to more easily monitor and protect their children from activities on the internet.

The main update in this change is a more intuitive Family Link design, with a new Screen Time tab that combines all screen time management tools in one accessible place.

Through this tab, parents can see the summary of the use of their child's device, set the time limit for using an application or cellphone, and adjust Stop Time or School Time on children's devices.

The School Time Feature will launch starting next week on Android phones and tablets. This feature will help reduce disruptions, by scheduling limited phone functions and disabling notifications during school hours.

Thus, parents can choose which apps can be silenced and restricted, and find out which apps their children use during school hours or outside school hours.

"We understand that there are times when certain apps are useful for learning, which is why parents can choose which apps are allowed during school hours or in certain other modes," Google wrote in its blog.

In addition, Google also presents a contact feature managed by parents on the Galaxy Watch for Kids, which will be launched in the next few months.

Through this feature, parents will be able to approve contacts that can be contacted by their children, add direct contacts via Family Link, and limit calls and messages only to approved contacts.

"Parents can add this contact from Family Link directly to their child's device and limit call and text messages only to approved contacts," Google explained.
