A 6-year-old Boy In Cengkareng Was Hit By A Stray Bullet While Sleeping In His House

JAKARTA - A boy with the initials M (6) was injured by a stray bullet while sleeping at his home in the Cengkareng area, West Jakarta.

This incident occurred on Tuesday, February 11, 2025, at around 22.15 WIB. However, the case until Thursday, February 13, is still under investigation by the West Jakarta Metro Police Satreskrim.

Head of the West Jakarta Metro Police Criminal Investigation Unit, AKBP Arfan Zulkan Sipayung, confirmed the incident.

His party is currently still collecting evidence and witness statements to reveal the origin of the bullet that injured the victim. Please note, the victim lives in a house that is used as a bicycle repair shop.

"Yes, that's right, the incident occurred at a bicycle repair shop in Cengkareng. The victim was a boy with the initials M (6). In this case, we are still investigating by collecting evidence and witness testimony," said AKBP Arfan when confirmed, Thursday, February 13.

The incident began when the victim was sleeping with her parents in the house at the same time as a bicycle repair shop.

At around 22.15 WIB, suddenly there was a loud sound followed by the sound of a falling object. Shortly after, the boy cried hysterically.

When the blanket was opened, the victim's parents were surprised to see blood flowing rapidly from their child's left thigh, just above the knee.

Panic and worry about the condition of her child, the victim's parents immediately rushed him to the nearest hospital for medical help.

Responding to this incident, the police have secured a bullet projectile that is suspected to have caused the victim's injuries.

The type of bullet that injured the victim is not yet known. The police also have not explained for sure the caliber of the projectile.

Meanwhile, the bullet is currently undergoing ballistic tests at the Forensic Laboratory (Labfor) of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Police to determine the type of weapon and origin of the shot.

"We have secured the bullet projectile and we are currently conducting ballistic tests at the National Police Criminal Investigation Labfor to find out where the bullet came from," he said.
