Foreign Minister Lavrov Says President Putin And Trump Declare Its Availability For Dialogue
JAKARTA - Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said Russian President Vladimir Putin and United States President Donald Trump expressed their willingness to communicate, but the decision rests with the two leaders.
"Regarding direct questions about communications, President Trump has repeatedly emphasized his readiness to make phone calls and meet in person. When asked about his reaction to the statement from the US leader, President Putin indicated he was also open to this," Foreign Minister Lavrov said, quoted from TASS February 12.
"As you might expect, a decision will ultimately be made by the president himself. I have no doubt the relevant information will be provided. I have no doubt that relevant information will be provided," Foreign Minister Lavrov continued.
At the same time, Foreign Minister Lavrov disagreed with a journalist's statement, everyone in the world awaits a meeting between White House Leaders and Kremlin Leaders.
"Do you really think the whole world expects it? In my opinion, not the whole world. There are people who think any communication between Moscow and Washington violates their interests," Lavrov said.
