PAPUA - Members of the Jayapura City Police Opsnal thwarted the sale and purchase of 12 packages of marijuana around the Holtekam area, Jayapura City, Papua, and arrested BS (25), a resident of Yamara Village, Keerom Regency.

"The arrest on Tuesday evening was led by the Head of Drugs at the Jayapura City Police, AKP Febry V. Pardede," said Jayapura City Police Chief Kombes Victor Mackbon in Jayapura, Wednesday, February 12.

From the reports received, the disclosure of the case began with information on the existence of marijuana-type narcotics transactions around Holtekam so that members investigated it.

After conducting an investigation, BS was then secured who admitted that he wanted to sell marijuana hidden in the bushes around him.

With instructions from BS, officers secured a box containing 12 packages of marijuana, all weighing 300 grams.

"Transactions or buying and selling marijuana have not happened because members have arrested BS and secured 12 packages of marijuana ready for distribution," said Kombes Victor Mackbon.

The Jayapura City Police Chief admitted that without participation from the public who informed about the circulation of marijuana, the police would find it difficult to reveal.

"Currently, BS and evidence are secured at the Jayapura City Police Headquarters and those concerned are subject to Article 111 (1) of the Republic of Indonesia Law No. 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics with a maximum imprisonment of 12 years," said Jayapura City Police Chief Kombes Victor Mackbon.
