KPU Budget Cuts IDR 843.2 Billion, Bawaslu IDR 955 Billion

The General Election Commission (KPU) and the Election Supervisory Body (Bawaslu) conveyed the results of the budget reconstruction at their institution in a meeting with Commission II of the DPR at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Wednesday, February 11.

The KPU cut the budget by 27.53 percent or Rp843,200,000,000 from the original ceiling of Rp3,062,311,327,000. So that the 2025 budget becomes Rp2,219,211,327,000 (Rp 2.2 trillion).

"The KPU budget from the original ceiling was Rp. 3.062 trillion, then received an efficiency of Rp. 843.2 billion, which is equivalent to 27.53 percent. Now it is Rp. 2.21 trillion," said KPU chairman Mochammad Afifuddin, in a meeting.

Afif explained that budget cuts include programs related to management support and election organizing programs. Meanwhile, operational expenditures for employees' offices and non-operational operations have not been targeted for efficiency.

"Those who get efficiency policies are programs related to management support and election implementation programs in the democratic consolidation process. Operational spending does not get efficiency," he said.

Meanwhile, Bawaslu received budget efficiency of Rp. 955,000,000,000 (Rp. 955 billion) from Rp. 2,416,945,124,000 (Rp. 2.4 trillion). Thus, the Bawaslu budget after the efficiency becomes Rp. 1,461,945,124,000 (Rp. 1.4 trillion).

"The Bawaslu budget for this fiscal year is IDR 2.4 trillion, then the efficiency results get IDR 955 billion. So that the budget ceiling for the efficiency results in 2025 is IDR 1,461,945,124,000," said the Head of Bawaslu, Rahmat Bagja in the same meeting.
