Civil Servants Can Be Late And Not Affected By Jakarta Floods In Today's Memory, February 10, 2015

JAKARTA Memories of today, 10 years ago, February 10, 2015, the Minister of State Apparatus Empowerment and Bureaucratic Reform (Menpan-RB), Yuddy Chrisnandi gave concessions to civil servants who were late and were not included in the impact of the Jakarta floods. The permit was granted because civil servants are also ordinary people.

Previously, Jakarta was flooded is not a new problem. This condition has been going on for a long time. Just once excessive rainfall, flooding is a sure thing to come. Those affected by the months, from businessmen, civil servants, to the small people.

Floods are one of the problems that have never been resolved in Jakarta. In fact, for those born and living in Jakarta, being subject to flooding is not a strange thing. Excessive rainfall can make the whole of Jakarta appear inundation of water.

Floods are able to be present in small people's settlements. Floods can also be present in the settlements of the rich. This does not mean that the government is not moving. The government has done everything possible to improve drainage to build Ciliwung drains. However, the problem of flooding has never been resolved.

This condition makes Jakarta residents faced with only one option: face it. The risk is borne by yourself. The loss efforts, submerged houses, goods, and damaged home furniture. Take for example the floods that came on February 9, 2015.

Heavy rains continued to fall. This condition makes many areas in Jakarta flooded. The Presidential Palace of the State Palace and Merdeka are almost threatened with flooding. Practically the flood that occurred left Jakarta paralyzed.

The government is clearly overwhelmed. The problem of flooding is considered to have threatened because anticipatory steps with various projects do not help much. This condition makes many Jakarta residents blame the DKI Jakarta government for not being serious in tackling the Jakarta floods.

"There has been a lot actually done. Both related to rivers and drainage. However, too high rainfall causes high surface flow, as a result of changes in flow coefficients.

"So that the rainfall that falls is directly converted into a surface flow. And everything leads to drainage, even though the drainage is unable to accommodate the surface flow, even though the condition of the river is still able to accommodate it," said a spokesman for the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB), Sutopo Purwo Nugroho as quoted on the BBC Indonesia website on February 10, 2015.

Jakarta residents are victims of the flood. Some of them are civil servants. This condition disturbed their work as state servants. They are 'PNS' who become victims often arrive late and do not enter because of the flood.

Menpan-RB, Yuddy Chrisnandi realized it. He immediately issued an appeal that civil servants could be late and not be included as a result of the Jakarta floods on February 10, 2015. He revealed that there were indeed no special rules related to civil servants being affected by flooding. However, everything is based on humanitarian advice.

Floods are a disaster that must be understood. He understands that it is very difficult and panicked if the house is flooded. Civil servants will try to save all their property. However, when the flood has receded they must return to work on time.

"It's too late because the flood is a disaster, we understand. There are more than 10-15 percent who don't come because their houses are in the Ciledug area, we understand. Civil servants are also ordinary people, who need help. Until the water recedes, when it recedes, they have to work again," said Yuddy as quoted by the detik.com page, February 10, 2015.
