Kaspersky Finds 1.6 Million Cyber Attacks In Roblox Game Throughout 2024

JAKARTA - With millions of monthly active users, Kaspersky experts detected as many as 1,612,921 attacks disguised as Roblox-related files throughout 2024.

In the findings, it can be seen that the highest number of attacks was recorded in August with 179,286 attacks, followed by September with 160,116 attacks, and October 151,638 attacks.

Kaspersky experts also found one of the most common scams in the game was an offer to accept currency in the game for free.

One of the fraudulent schemes is where users are asked to enter a game ID or username, and select a gaming platform (Android, iOS, Windows, PlayStation, Xbox, or Nintendo).

Then at the bottom, there is a tracking of fake activity that displays the latest transactions from players who seem to receive Robux, making the scam look more convincing.

After that, players are asked to complete a "verification" or survey to get a prize.

However, in order to receive the prize, the victim had to pay the shipping fee.

After paying, the victim did not get any prizes and instead lost his money.

Given the many children playing this game, Vasily Kolesnikov, security experts at Kaspersky reminded young gamers to keep their digital security during Roblox.

"By promoting cyber hygiene, using trusted security solutions, and teaching important things such as activating two-factor authentication, we can create a safer online environment where children can enjoy their favorite games without becoming victims of fraud," he explained.
