Megawati Gives Mother Mary's Painting To Pope Francis
JAKARTA - The Fifth President of the Republic of Indonesia Megawati Soekarnoputri handed over the painting of Mother Mary to the World Catholic Leader Pope Francis at the Apostholic Palace, Vatican.
Reported by ANTARA, Friday, February 7, the painting of Bunda Maria is depicted as wearing a white mantila veil and a red shirt.
Megawati was present with the Speaker of the House of Representatives Puan Maharani who is also her daughter and her son Mohamad Rizki Pratama as well as DPR member Ahmad Basarah and former North Sulawesi Governor Olly Dondokambey.
The meeting closed with the gift of souvenirs for the painting of Mother Maria berbaya which was brought specifically by Megawati from Jakarta. Meanwhile, Puan Maharani gave souvenirs in the form of puppet clothes made from traditional Indonesian batik.
"The Pope looked very happy to get the souvenir and thanked Megawati and Mbak Puan Maharani," said Basarah.
